GETTING A QUOTE FROM SAUNDERS
There are several levels of price quoting available. The following approaches are only offered as examples. We recognize that estimators and buyers have unique methods and processes. We are willing and able to work with your processes as necessary in order to make your experience with us as smooth as possible.
For the best results possible, we recommend a short discussion with one of our sales/customer service personnel.
BASIC SQUARE FOOT PRICING
Used for general pricing. This pricing method could work for budget pricing or pricing comparisons of different species or constructions. Since many assumptions are used in this pricing technique, this price should be considered “ballpark” pricing.
Many assumptions are made to arrive at basic pricing. Assumptions have a tendency to drive pricing higher in order to include worst case possibilities.
The following minimum information is needed:
Project time frame.
Wood veneer species and cut. *Specified log information.
Core type and thickness.
Good 1 side or 2 sides. G1S we assume A-4 panel, G2S A-B.
Panel length. Pricing will presume all panels are the same height (veneer length), if sequenced.
Standard size or made-to-size (MTS) panels.
IMPORTANT NOTE: MTS looks better and may cost less. Waste factors for core thrown away will be included, driving the s/f pricing higher than standard-size panel pricing. Unless your yields are almost perfect from a standard-size panel, MTS panels are likely less expensive overall.
SPECIFIC SQUARE FOOT PRICING
Used for more accurate sizing when definitive construction and material information are available.
The following information is needed:
Project time frame.
Wood veneer species and cut. *Specified log information.
Core type and thickness.
Panel grade and use of panel (wall cover, casework doors, furniture, etc.).
Panel sizes are needed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: MTS looks better and may cost less.
Waste factors for core thrown away will be included, driving the s/f pricing higher than standard panel size pricing. Unless your yields are almost perfect from a stock size panel, MTS panels are likely less expensive overall.
GENERAL PRICING BASED ON A TYPICAL ELEVATION DRAWING
At times the estimator finds it too tedious or times consuming to do a complete panel for panel take off when estimating. If we are given a “typical” elevation, we can prepare a basic s/f price which the estimator can then use at his or her discretion against a generalized take off.
If not noted on drawings or specs sent with inquiry, we would need the following information:
Project time frame.
Wood veneer species and cut. *Specified log information.
Core type and thickness.
Wall panels are assumed to be Good 1 Side (G1S as an A4 panel) and casework doors are Good 2 Sides (G2S as an A-B panel) unless otherwise stated.
We presume panels are balance and sequence matched unless specified otherwise.
For the best results possible, we recommend a short discussion with one of our sales/customer service personnel.
SPECIFIC PRICING BASED ON ELEVATION DRAWINGS
If not noted on drawings or specs sent with inquiry, we would need the following information:
Project time frame.
A plan view and section drawings keyed to elevations.
Spec section(s) that apply.
Wood veneer species and cut. *Specified log information.
Core type and thickness.
Wall panels are assumed to be Good 1 Side (G1S as an A4 panel) and casework doors are Good 2 Sides (G2S as an A-B panel) unless otherwise stated.
We presume panels are balance and sequence matched unless specified otherwise
SPECIFIC PRICING BASED ON A PANEL LIST
A panel list should include the following:
Wood veneer species and cut. *Specified log information.
Face grade/back grade (or list by line if varies).
Leaf to leaf match (e.g., book/slip/random).
Match within panel face (e.g., running/balance/center balance, etc.).
Core type and thickness (or list by line if varies).
Example listing -
Quantity - W x L. Tag# (if applicable). Seq #1
Quantity - W x L. Tag# (if applicable). Seq #1
Outside or inside corner at this point.
Quantity - W x L. Tag# (if applicable). Seq #1
Quantity - W x L. Tag# (if applicable). Seq #2
Quantity - W x L. Tag# (if applicable). Seq #2
Doorway break in sequence at this point (3’).
Quantity - W x L. Tag# (if applicable). Seq #2
Quantity - W x L. Tag# (if applicable). Seq #2
And so on.
*Some specifications include a log number and veneer vendor as the source for specific veneer. The design professional has selected a specific log or veneer vendor for use on their project. In order to price your panels, we may need the project name and architect information to get the correct response from the specified veneer vendor.
Panels are generally oversize (usually 1”) for final sizing and edge treatment by customer.
